Macedonia wishes to develop friendly relations with Russia as the two countries have much in common, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said in an interview with TV 24 Vesti (News) late Friday.
However, there is no other alternative for Macedonia but the EU, NATO membership. Macedonia is not joining NATO to start wars. On the contrary the country is an advocate of peace, Zaev said.
‘Our soldiers have been taking part in NATO-led missions in Afghanistan, Bosnia/Herzegovina to preserve the peace. Macedonia is proud of these missions and I believe that Russia will not do anything inappropriate to obstruct the right of over 75 percent of citizens because we have decided to become NATO member,’ Zaev said.
