Cavkov and those involved in the April 27 violence in parliament detained


The former Interior Minister and Director of the Public Safety Bureau Mitko Cavkov and several other individuals are detained early Tuesday in line with the warrant ordered by Public Prosecutor’s Office, Interior Ministry told MIA.

At the moment, Cavkov is giving a statement before a judge for a preliminary proceeding in Skopje-based Criminal Court. Court sources told MIA that several other individuals are also brought before a judge for a preliminary procedure who acts upon a written submission from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the April 27 violence in the Macedonian Parliament.

Mitko Cavkov during the April 27 violence headed the Interior Ministry operational HQ. Ministry of Interior’s lower structures told that he did not issue an order for police action for two hours by which he put the life of lawmakers and journalists at risk.

Besides Cavkov, MPs Krsto Mukovski and Zaklina Stefanovska, actor Vlado Jovanovski, Goran Angelov – Kjoseto from Veles and former director of the Health Insurance Fund Saso Stefanovski are also detained.
