Talks with BESA over two-thirds majority resume today

Talks with representatives of the opposition party BESA over a two-thirds majority for the constitutional revision resume on Tuesday.

This is the second meeting with the BESA representatives after last week’s discussions between Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and BESA leader Bilal Kasami. BESA and Alliance for Albanians have filed amendments to the constitutional amendments, while VMRO-DPMNE has said it would not take part in the session. Zaev has expressed optimism that the required two-thirds majority would be secured prior to the final vote.

“The two opposition parties of the ethnic Albanians have thus far been constructive in the process, with some of their suggestions already incorporated. All parties support the Euro-Atlantic integration process and we will discuss the aspects they have reservations about,” said PM Zoran Zaev.

The  final stage of the Prespa Agreement implementation begins on tomorrow (Wednesday).

Once the process for the constitutional amendments is wrapped up, the agreement should also be ratified by Greek MPs.

Last week, PM Zaev declared that he has faith on what his Greek counterpart told him that Greece will ratify the agreement without any problems.
