Justice Minister Saliji meets US legal adviser McNeil, focus on judiciary reforms


There is preparedness for cooperation in the implementation of judiciary reforms, agreed Justice Minister Bilen Saliji and the US Embassy legal adviser John McNeil at a meeting on Wednesday.

Saliji thanked McNeil for the U.S. assistance and briefed him on the steps undertaken by the ministry regarding the implementation of judiciary reforms, the Justice Ministry said in a press release.

Discussions focused on the latest amendments to the laws on courts, judicial council, public prosecutor’s office and public prosecutors, as well as changes in the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code.

The meeting also tackled the issue of mounting audio and video recording equipment in courtrooms.

McNeil promised support for the ministry in all projects aimed at supporting the country’s integration process, reads the press release.
