Government to consider the Public Prosecution draft- law on today’s session

At the proposal of the Ministry of Justice, North Macedonia’s Government will consider the draft-law on Public Prosecution, as well as the draft-law on amendments to the law on the Public Prosecutors’ Council at today’s session.

The new law on public prosecution proposes that the Special Public Prosecution should be integrated into the existing Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption, and renamed into Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and High-Level Corruption.

The new Prosecutor’s Office will have the authorization to act across the country. Although having independence, it will have to answer to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of North Macedonia.
All SPO prosecutors will continue working in the new prosecutor’s office. Since their term ends on September 15, they have the right to be re-elected.
