Baily: The United States welcomes today’s historic decision (Video)

The United States welcomes today’s historic decision in Parliament, said US Ambassador to Skopje, Jess Baily, on tonight’s vote in Parliament.

“Today, Macedonia reached a historic decision. Your Parliament voted to adopt the constitutional changes required to implement the Prespa Agreement with Greece. The United States welcomes the decision of your elected officials. When the process is completed with the ratification by Greece, this agreement will finally resolve the name dispute, which for too long has prevented the citizens of Macedonia from realizing their goals to join NATO and the European Union.

I commend your leaders in Government and in Parliament for their vision, their courage, and their persistence in pursuing a solution and putting Macedonia’s long-term strategic interests first. We look forward to welcoming the Republic of North Macedonia as the 30th member of NATO and to continuing our strong partnership with you to advance stability, security, and prosperity here and throughout the region,”, said Ambassador Baily in a video address.
