Zbogar: The “Racket” case shows the PPO is fighting against crime

EU Ambassador to Skopje Samuel Zbogar believes the ‘Racket’ case shows the Public Prosecutor’s Office is fighting against crime.

I try to see the ‘Racket’ case in a positive light, Zbogar said Monday while visiting the Municipality of Novaci, adding it was evident that country has been establishing a practice to fight against high-level crime.

According to him, there are no reasons for political crisis in the country. ‘The institutions are functioning, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is functioning as is the Special Public Prosecution. We’ve taken note of Katica Janeva’s resignation, but the SPO will continue to function until September 15. Until then, the political leaders have enough time to consider ways to make sure the SPO resumes its work. One of the options is the SPO to be integrated into the Public Prosecutor’s Office. There’s time to solve it,” Zbogar said in Novaci during his working visit for meeting with local self-government officials.

Speaking at a news conference, the EU diplomat said he was aware about speculation involving Janeva’s resignation.

“It’s a fact the SPO was very useful and important in its work and the cases it represented. Expertise and knowledge is concentrate there, and I believe it should be used in the future,” said Zbogar.
