Zaev attends Western Balkans Summit in London
A government delegation led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev including Deputy PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov takes part July 9-10 at EU-Western Balkans Summit in London, the fifth summit convened under the Berlin Process.
Summit’s central events will begin on Tuesday with the reception organised by the UK Prime Minister Theresa May for the heads of delegations of the member states of the Berlin Process and the EU member states as well as representatives of the European Commission, Government Press Service informs.
Ministerial meeting on security including Interior and Foreign Ministers is held Monday. Macedonia’s Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski attends meeting on meeting on working programme on security while FM Nikola Dimitrov attends meeting focused on foreign policy, bilateral disputes and legacy issues.
During the first day, PM Zaev will attend a working lunch organised for the heads of delegations and directors of the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the representatives of the Regional Cooperation Council and of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO).
The topic of the lunch’s working session hosted by UK Prime Minister Theresa May is economy and regional cooperation. EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn is to deliver a key-note speech.
Zaev is invited to address the panel on topic “Foreign Policy, Bilateral Disputes and Legacy Issues” chaired by UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
Zaev is to attend the plenary session at which UK Prime Minister Theresa May is to present plans for Warsaw Summit in 2019. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn are scheduled to address the session on topic “The Future of the Berlin Process.”
On the summit’s sidelines, Zaev is scheduled to hold a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Croatia’s PM Andrej Plenkovic.
The Prince of Wales will host a reception at the end of the Western Balkans Summit 2018 at St James’s Palace State Apartments.
Zaev is also to meet Robert Chatterton Dickson, Director of Foreign Policy in the National Security Secretariat, members of the Ohrid Group that organise a working breakfast for 16 politicians, military officials and journalists from UK.
From London, Zaev leaves for Brussels on a special flight, where he will take part in the NATO summit of heads of state and government.
