Supreme Court releases businessmen from SPO’s ‘Empire’ case

The Supreme Court accepted the appeals and the businessmen Jordan Kamcev, Cvetan Pandeleski and Nenad Josifovic, suspects in the investigation of the SPO’s Empire case, are coming out of house arrest. This information is unofficial and is expected to be confirmed during the day.

According to legal opinion established by Supreme judges in a general session, the SPO is an unauthorized prosecution and cannot raise charges, open investigations and take over cases from the regular prosecutor’s office 18 months after taking over the so-called ‘bombs’.

Orce Kamcev, Saso Mijalkov and 11 others are suspects in the ‘Empire’ case, including fraud and money laundering. After the Court of Appeal confirmed house arrest for the former head of the secret police, his attorneys are preparing an appeal to the Supreme Court judges so that their client can defend himself free from house arrest.
