Supreme Court orders house arrest for four defendants in ‘Monster’ case

The Supreme Court ordered Friday a house arrest measure for four defendants in ‘Monster’ case – murder of five people near Smilkovo Lake in 2012.

The defendants are also obliged to present themselves twice a week before the Crliminal Court.

Last week the Supreme Court accepted the appeal filled by the defense in the ‘Monster’ case. The court annulled the first and second-degree verdicts and returned the case to the Basic Court for retrial.

Last month, Public Prosecutor requested a retrial on the case, saying that the existence of wiretapped conversations could alter the course of the legal proceedings.

‘The court is obliged to see that justice is served,’ she said.

Six people have been sentenced to life in prison for the Smilkovo Lake killings.

Kire Trickovski, Filip Slavkovski, Cvetanco Ackovski, Aleksandar Nakjevski and Borce Stefanovski were found slain near the Smilkovo Lake on 13 April 2012 on the eve of Easter.
