Parliament to ratify Bulgaria friendship treaty

The draft-law ratifying the Agreement on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Macedonia and Bulgaria will be on the agenda of the Parliament’s 30. session scheduled on Monday.

The agreement was signed on 1 August 2017 by countries’ prime ministers Zoran Zaev and Boyko Borisov, aimed at enhancing friendly relations, good neighborliness, and development of cooperation in compliance with international law.

The treaty is a result of a five-year negotiating process by working groups of the countries’ ministries of foreign affairs.

Bulgarian FM Ekaterina Zakharieva said last month the country’s National Assembly would ratify the treaty over the course of January.
