Parliament strips former PM Gruevski of MP salary

The Parliament added Wednesday a provision to the Law on MPs, which results in stripping former Prime Minister Nikola Gruievski of his salary as a Member of Parliament.

The provision reads that if a Member of Parliament is sentenced to a prison sentence exceeding six months, he/she loses the right to a salary and other fees.

Former Prime Minister Gruevski was recently sentenced to two years in prison in Special Prosecutor’s Office case Tank. As he was scheduled to report to prison, Gruevski escaped to Hungary where he received asylum.
