Osmani: Fake news that DUI insisted on replacement of the SPO staff

North Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani dismissed rumors on Tuesday that his political party DUI had insisted on a complete staff overhaul in the Special Prosecutor’s Office, including Katica Janeva at its helm.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski to promote the National Coordination Center for the Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime, Osmani said DUI had never discussed replacing SPO staff.

“DUI has never made any such request,” Osmani said. “What we have discussed is the prosecution law and how to regulate legal representation.”

Osmani said DUI would vote in favor of the new Law on the Public Prosecution, which incorporates the SPO.

According to Osmani, the new law is a turning point for evaluating the progress of the country’s reform agenda.
