Water level of rivers still rising after rainfalls


Rainfalls are forecast Sunday by meteorologists with western Macedonia expected to be hit by showers. As Macedonia is hit by rainfalls for three days in the row, water levels of rivers are still rising and traffic has been hindered on several roads across the country.

According to the latest forecast of the Hydrometeorological Office, water levels of rivers across the country, namely Vardar, Treska, Radika, Crn Drim, Sateska and Crna, are high with risks of overflow in certain places.

On Saturday, an underpass was flooded following rain in the municipality of Saraj in Skopje, the Crisis Management Center has reported.

In Skopje, gauge height of River Vardar was reported at 168 centimeters.

Western Macedonia yesterday saw intensified rainshowers, which spread to the east overnight.

Good driving conditions are reported throughout the country on wet roads, the company Macedonia Road informs. Drivers are advised to drive carefully, adjust their speed according to weather conditions and respect road signalization
