Tzitzikostas: As long as I am governor the signboards on our streets will read Skopje

Governor of Greek region of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas in an interview with Greek TV Skai said that signboards reading Skopje will not be replaced with North Macedonia as long as he is in the post.

Governor Tzitzikostas says he does not intend to use the name North Macedonia, because “for me, the country was and will be Skopje.”

“There is no way that a road in our jurisdiction has a signboard reading North Macedonia. Let’s be clear, the signboards on our streets will read Skopje as long as I am governor,” says Tzitzikostas.

Regarding a possible government pressure on this issue, he says “I have shown in the past that such pressure has no effect.”
