Tzanakopoulos: No name solution if neighboring country lacks willingness

Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, spokesman of the Greek government, said Tuesday that Greece’s stance and preconditions were clear, while the neighboring country was the one that needed to demonstrate willingness for an agreement, otherwise there would be no solution.

“We have said what the preconditions are to reach an agreement. Thus, if our neighbors are willing to go forward, to focus on a mutually accessible agreement, we are open as we have already demonstrated it. If not, there will be no solution,” Tzanakopoulos has told Greece’s Alpha TV when asked to comment on the Macedonian PM’s positions expressed in interviews with Der Spiegel and Euronews.

Zoran Zaev’s positions are also featured in today’s edition of ‘Kathimerini’, MIA reports from Athens. Citing the statements of the PM as regards the Constitution, the identity and erga omnes, the journalist also notes that these positions have triggered dissatisfaction in Athens.

“The array of statements by the ruling administration in the neighboring country bothered Athens, where the plan of a visit to Skopje in the coming days by FM Nikos Kotzias is still on,” Kathimerini reports.
