Tusk on the name dispute: The impossible can become possible

The impossible becomes possible, European Council President Donald Tusk said Friday in regard to the process for settling Athens-Skopje dispute over Macedonia’s name.

Speaking at a joint press conference with leaders of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, Tusk voiced satisfaction with the tangible progress of the name talks, which to a great extent ‘is a result of the efforts invested by the Macedonian side.’

‘What I heard today from Korea and what I have experienced here in the Balkans in the last days should be a positive memento to all: that the impossible can become possible, and that it depends entirely on the good will and courage of individual people,’ Tusk said.

Macedonia, he said, will enjoy my full support to join EU as soon as the name row is resolved. However, the country’s EU membership status requires a consensual decision of all member countries, Tusk said.
