Top VMRO-DPMNE official won’t attend party’s extraordinary congress

Antonio Milososki, member of the VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee, won’t attend the party’s contested extraordinary congress, reports TV 24.

The 16th congress of the opposition party is set to take place in Valandovo on Dec. 22-23.

While there is no official call to boycott the congress, the TV outlet reports, several of the most prominent delegates, including Ilija Dimovski and Boris Zmejkovski, will not take part in the party congress as well.

Milososki, Dimovski and Zmejkovski were part of an initiative on postponing the congress until February. The initiative was rejected at Wednesday’s session of the Executive Committee.

Milososki was also a no-show at last night’s session of the VMRO-DPMNE Central Committee. He has said that it mustn’t be allowed the party to elect a ‘puppetlike’ leader.

Hristijan Mickovski, the party’s secretary general, is the only candidate nominated to run for president of VMRO-DPMNE.
