The Hungarian government will not extradite Gruevski

The Hungarian government excludes the possibility of extraditing former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski to Macedonia, Hungarian Justice Minister László Trócsányi said today.

– Gruevski, after receiving asylum in Hungary, can not be sent to a country where he is being persecuted, said Trócsányi in an interview with Hungarian Echo TV.

The Hungarian Immigration and Refugee Service yesterday approved Gruevski’s political asylum, after which Macedonia issued an international arrest warrant for serving a two-year prison sentence.

The Macedonian Ministry of Justice yesterday submitted to the Hungarian authorities the request for extradition of Nikola Gruevski from Hungary.
