SPO demands jail time for Ivona Talevska


The Special Public Prosecution (SPO) yesterday filed an appeal to the Appellate Court in Skopje, challenging a tax evasion ruling involving TV journalist Ivona Talevska.

The SPO requests Talevska’s sentence to be substituted with jail time.

On February 19th, journalist Ivona Talevska was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to tax evasion.

According to the verdict, she should pay 1,671,611 denars for a personal income tax that she did not pay, 1,145,900 denars tax liabilities from the company “Smart Center” DOOEL, which is now under bankruptcy, and the company “Smart Group”, which is owned by Taleska, should pay 1,038,698 denars. She evaded tax from 2008 to 2014.

Talevska has one year to pay the tax.
