Spasovski: We are taking all necessary measures for peaceful atmosphere on referendum day

Minister of Internal Affairs Oliver Spasovski on today’s visit to Veles said that all necessary preparations are being made to create a peaceful atmosphere in order for the citizens to make their own decision on the upcoming referendum.

– We are now in an extremely important, historical period for the Republic of Macedonia before the referendum is held and within the SVR Veles all necessary preparations are made to enable a peaceful atmosphere in order for the citizens to be able to make a decision independently, said Spasovski.

He pointed out that the benefits of NATO and EU membership are huge, primarily because NATO guarantees security, and the benefits from the EU are significant given that they now provide EUR 260,000 per day European money assistance for Macedonia.

At today’s meeting with Mayor Ace Kocevski, they talked about mutual cooperation and renewal of the relationship between the local community and the police.

– It is very important for the security to have a cooperation, a partnership between the citizens and the Macedonian police. Unfortunately, that thread was interrupted in the past, but today we have many joint initiatives that contribute to renewing this cooperation while restoring the confidence of the citizens in the police, Spasovski said.
