President Ivanov and PM Zaev extend Orthodox Christmas holiday greetings

Macedonia’s President Gjorge Ivanov on Monday attended a Christmas liturgy held at the St. Clement of Ohrid Church in Skopje.

After the liturgy, he said he wished all the Orthodox believers ‘health, joy, happiness and unity.’

“Holidays don’t serve only for celebration, they are here to remind us about everything that has allowed us to persevere throughout the centuries, to remind us that we should love, respect and keep what is ours, what we have and not what we don’t have. We should protest, respect and love the Republic of Macedonia, because it is all we have,” said President Ivanov.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in a Christmas greeting says that it is a day that ‘reminds us to open our hearts to experience the joy of the birth of Jesus that is omnipresent in these holy days.’

“May the day of the birth of Jesus – Christmas be one of the many days this year filled with joy on the path of the arising hope for a better tomorrow for every human being, in every home. May we transfer this hope and wish for a better tomorrow in our common home, in the society so as to build it as a more humane, more just society with a prosperous future for all,” said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
