Osmani responded to Thimonier

Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani responded to the accusations of the French Ambassador, Christian Thimonier, who denounced the Law on the Use of Languages as disappointing with the message that the EC’s recommendation for Macedonia is uncertain.

“I accept that we really had a difficult week, in which we voted the Law on Languages a difficult atmosphere. I agree with you that the atmosphere in the legislature did not fit into a genuine democratic debate based on arguments. But you yourself know that our demands for a reasoned debate have been ignored for months … The purpose of this law was neither a triumphalism of the Albanians over the Macedonians, but to build a modern and multiethnic society,” Osmani said, adding that the enactment of the Law represents guarantee for the stability and unitary nature of Macedonia.
