Osmani-Babic: EC Enlargement Strategy ‘vital’ for Western Balkan countries


The Western Balkans Strategy of the European Commission is considered one of the most vital initiatives for the region, because it clearly shows that the European Union is restoring its focus on Western Balkan countries and is putting the region back on the EU’s top agenda, it was concluded Thursday by Deputy PM for European affairs Bujar Osmani and Lepa Babic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“There is an exceptionally positive momentum, led by Bulgaria’s presidency with the European Council, which is to be taken over by Austria and Romania respectively. Each of these countries is a stanch supporter of the EU enlargement process and each of these show open interest for the Western Balkan countries to integrate into the Union,” Deputy PM Osmani said, read a press release of the Secretariat for European Affairs (SEA).

The interlocutors noted the favorable bilateral relations as a foundation to further enhance the cooperation and mutual support for each other in accomplishing Euro-Atlantic ambitions.
