Citizens of Ohrid will get their new mayor in the May 5 runoff after neither of the five candidates received majority of votes in Sunday’s first round.

The runoff will see SDSM candidate Konstantin Georgieski, who won 13,037 votes, versus VMRO-DPMNE’s Mitre Miloshevski, who garnered 10,614 votes, both far ahead of the three remaining candidates. Turnout stood at 53.84 percent.

The early elections in Ohrid take place after last year’s sudden death of mayor Jovan Stojanoski.
