Norway ratifies North Macedonia’s NATO Accession Protocol


North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister, Nikola Dimitrov has thanked Norway for ratifying North Macedonia’s protocol of accession to NATO.

He has thanked the Norwegian parliament on Twitter, while saying that he expects the Norwegian Foreign Minister Erkisen Soreide for a visit to Skopje this month.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Foreign Minister also announced on Twitter that his country’s parliament had ratified the accession protocol.

“An important step for security and stability in the region and beyond. Looking forward to seeing North Macedonia as Norway’s neighbor at the North Atlantic Council table”, he wrote on Twitter.

Norway is the 15th out of the 29 NATO member countries to ratify the NATO accession protocol. The first country to ratify it was Greece on 8 February 2019.
