Macedonia extends border state of emergency until mid-2018

Parliament voted Friday in favor of extending the state of emergency along the borders with Serbia and Greece after an increase in arrivals and transits of migrants across the territory of Macedonia has been registered.

The state of emergency will be enforced until 30 June 2018.

60 MPs voted in favor of passing the decision.

Under the decision, the Macedonian army and the security forces of the Interior Ministry will continue to perform tasks aimed at guarding and protecting the state borders.
