Kotzias: Gruevski not wanting a solution for the name dispute was all an act

Former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski was putting on an act that he was against a solution for name dispute, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kodzias said, reacting to information published by Wikileaks that Macedonian authorities in 2008 accepted a name change.

– It is known that Gruevski did not want any solution to the name dispute. He ridiculed international players, pretending he was forced to compromise. Nobody trusted him, except for, let us remind you, Mr. Mitsotakis, Kodzias said.

Micotakis also spoke about the Wikileaks article, calling it tragic.

– Today from Wikileaks we learn that in 2008 Skopje asked for the state to be renamed “Northern Macedonia” and their people to be called “Macedonians” who supposedly speak “Macedonian language”. That, in the most tragic manner, confirms what I have been saying for months – that Prime Minister Tsipras, Defense Minister Kamenos, and Kodzias want to present this extremely harmful agreement for Greece as a success, meeting the requirements of Skopje, Mitsotakis said.

He reiterated that New Democracy will not vote for the ratification of the agreement in the Greek Parliament.
