Kathimerini: Name negotiations enter uncharted waters

By the end of this month the Greek parliament will ratify the second phase of Macedonia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement, and right afterwards Greece intends to support the neighboring country’s bid to join the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, Greek daily Kathimerini reports.

Changes of the names of the neighboring country’s highway and airport are already published in the Official Gazette, which could make (FM Nikos) Kotzias to take a flight from Athens to Skopje as soon as next week, the first one after almost 12 years, the daily says.

Today’s article, titled ‘Frequent contacts, but no agreement on hard issues’, analyses the recent development in the Macedonian-Greek relations, MIA reports from Athens.

The negotiations between Skopje and Athens have entered uncharted waters, as the talks between the two foreign ministers have made substantial progress, resulting in answers only to some of the issues that are subject of discussion, Kathimerini says, notifying the name, identity and constitution of the neighboring country as thorn points in the process.
