Kathimerini: Agreement has been reached on the name, the scope of use and acronyms

In three chapters, according to the Greek “Kathimerini”, the agreement between Skopje and Athens was reached on the name, scope and acronyms. The newspaper comments that the negotiations are turning into an unsolvable puzzle despite the initial increased optimism from Athens.

The Greek government, as Kathimerini writes, now faces the opposition New Democracy, which seeks a change of the Constitution, but “Skopje, through the continuous interviews of Prime Minister Zaev, reacts to the possibility of changing the Constitution.”

– According to the information, as a way out of the situation, Athens in the international agreement that will be signed between Athens and Skopje, if there is progress in the negotiations, will propose to include a simple commitment to amend the Constitution and “some sort of initiation of the appropriate procedures”. According to the same sources, an agreement was reached on three chapters in the talks. More specifically about the name, the scope of use (erga omnes) and the acronyms, writes “Kathimerini”.

According to the newspaper, despite the difficulties that exist, Tsipras is firmly committed to solving the issue, although he knows that there is a danger of possible problems in the government due to Panos Kammenos’s position.

“Kathimerini” in the article entitled “Mines on Tsipras’ road”, analyzes the open issues that the Greek Prime Minister needs to deal with in the next period – the economy on one, and the name dispute on the other hand.
