Hahn: Signing the accession protocol is a contribution to peace and stability in the Western Balkans

EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has welcomed the signature of the NATO Accession Protocol with Macedonia.

“Congrats! A contribution to peace and stability in the Western Balkans and beyond!,” Hahn tweeted on Wednesday.

The German Federal Foreign Office has welcomed Wednesday the signing of the Accession Protocol between NATO and Macedonia, calling it its ‘new NATO partner.’

“The future Republic of North Macedonia is now en route to becoming a NATO ally. The Accession Protocol is signed, now waiting for ratification by each Member State. Thanks to the name agreement between Skopje and Athens, we are looking forward to welcoming a new NATO Partner!,” the Federal Foreign Office tweeted.

The permanent representatives of all 29 NATO members signed today in Brussels the protocol for Macedonia’s accession to NATO.
