Greek Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee continues debate on the Prespa Agreement

Greece’s parliament’s committee on defense and foreign policy is to resume Tuesday at 10:30h the debate on Prespa Agreement ratification.

A plenary session will take up the debate on Wednesday, before a vote set for late Thursday, said Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis said.

The process on Prespa Agreement ratification started Monday while the debate of committee on defense and foreign policy lasted five and a half hours. The discussion was interrupted shortly before 23:00h local time.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who won a confidence vote last week, appears to have secured the majority needed to get the accord approved by the 300-seat house.

Greece’s PM Alexis Tsipras needs at least half of lawmakers present in the house during the vote for ratification but he has said he wants an absolute majority of 151 deputies.
