Bulgarian MEP Kyuchyuk appointed new EP rapporteur for North Macedonia


Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk is the new European Parliament rapporteur for North Macedonia. The EP’s Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted the decision on Wednesday. 

Kyuchyuk is appointed to this position, which was previously held by Slovenian MEP Ivo Vajgl, for a mandate of 5 years.  

The rapporteur’s role in the EP is to prepare reports on North Macedonia’s reform progress, which are the basis for EP’s decisions.  

Ilhan Kyuchyuk id a Bulgarian politician, member of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), which belongs to the European liberal democratic family – the Renew Europe Group, where French President Emmanuel Macron’s party is also a member. 

This is Kyuchyuk’s second mandate. He’s a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee.
