42 cases of nepotism under investigation
The Anti-Corruption Commission has opened 42 new cases of nepotism and conflicts of interests of former and current government officials.
Among them are the names of current Minister of Economy Kresnik Bekteshi, Minister of Local Self-Government Suheil Fazliu, MPs Frosina Remenski, Antonio Milososki, Slavica Miteva Sumanska, Riste Tashev, Tatjana Lalchevska, Tanja Kovacheva, Sashko Atanasov, former Secretary General of the Government Kiril Bozhinovski, former president of the Constitutional Court Elena Goseva, the preliminary procedure judge Sead Redzepagic, Vlatko Samardziski and Vlado Bogdanovski members of the Judicial Council, as well as local government officials and councilors of the head of state’s Cabinet. The list includes relatives and daughters of judges, as well as the wives of former and current officials.
All cases have been opened in an open letter, and the Anti-Corruption Commission says that it is investigating whether there was a conflict of interest and influence in the employment of relatives of officials in state institutions in other cases as well.
The members of Anti-Corruption Commission announced that they will initiate a misdemeanor procedure for Azis Polozani, rector at the Mother Teresa University because he did not submit a title deed after being elected to this position. The Anti-Corruption Commission has opened 18 other cases of nepotism, but the proceedings are still underway.
