Zbogar: North Macedonia is ready now to open negotiations

According to EU Ambassador Zbogar, this can be taken as an encouragement of the new times that are coming for the country and its future.

“North Macedonia is a very unique country in the Western Balkans at the moment, unique in a very positive way,” he said. “It has the only Parliament in the region where opposition and the government are sitting inside working on improving the laws. It’s the only country that has no problem with the neighbours, a country that has developed very good neighbourly relations, not only with the neighbours but with all countries in the region.”

Zbogar reiterated that the recommendation was very clear and stated very clearly that all conditions that had been set by member states in June 2018 have been implemented in order to open negotiations next month.

“The country is ready now, this moment, to open negotiations. Of course, the work should not stop now with the report. The reforms should continue, there’s still a lot of work to be done. I’m looking forward to seeing the continuous enthusiasm and determination coming up,” said Zbogar.
