Zaev’s fragile government undergoes a crisis

The government chaired by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is going through a crisis. Three ministries have remained without ministers, as these ministers were candidates in the latest local government elections. But, filling these posts has caused problems and disagreements, because Social Democratic Union Party led by Zaev decided to take the ministry of Health to the Alliance for Albanians, offering the post of the deputy Prime Minister for Reforms in exchange.

After a meeting held with Zaev, the leader of the Alliance for Albanians, Ziadin Sela said that he doesn’t accept this exchange.

“We stand to our previous position. The agreement has been reached when the government was formed and the post of the ministry of Health belongs to the Alliance for Albanians. During the period that we have been in charge of that ministry, we have been successful. We don’t accept ministries which are improvised for the moment, such as it is the case of the ministry for reforms”, the head of the Alliance for Albanians, Ziadin Sela said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Zaev’s cabinet said that until the end of the week, things will become clearer and the sides will decide on filling the vacant positions in the government.
