Zaev to meet with Conte in Rome and Mogherini in Brussels

North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is set to meet with Italian PM Giuseppe Conte on Tuesday in Rome. Zaev will also attend EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini’s farewell working dinner with Western Balkan leaders in Brussels.

PM Zaev confirmed in a TV interview last week that Conte invited him to Rome to discuss EU enlargement.

Following the European Council meeting in Brussels, where EU leaders postponed the start of accession negotiations with North Macedonia, Conte called the decision a historic mistake and said he would request enlargement be put back on the agenda in November. The General Affairs Council (GAC) will discuss enlargement again at their next meeting in November.
