Today, the Council of Public Prosecutors confirmed the termination of the Special Prosecutor’s Office’s term following the dismissal of SPO head Katica Janeva on Saturday.

Following the session, council chairman Aco Kolevski said SPO prosecutors should return to their previous posts in public prosecution offices.

The SPO team, established in October 2015, included prosecutors Lile Stefanova, Fatime Fetai, Lenche Ristovska, Artan Ajro, Burim Rustemi, Gavril Bubevski, Ljubomir Lape, Stefco Donev, Trajce Pelivanov and Elizabeta Josifovska. In early 2016, Janeva through her own initiative dismissed prosecutors Leila Kadriu and Marija Gjorgjeva.

Last weekend the Parliament had voted unanimously to dismiss Katica Janeva, who is detained as the third suspect in the “Racket” case.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office took over all cases from the Special Prosecutor’s Office for criminal charges in connection to the illegal wiretaps. State Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski said it will be decided which prosecutors will handle the SPO cases and it is not excluded that the current prosecutors will handle the cases.
