Survey: Majority of Greeks believe the name solution will be closer to the Macedonian positions

More than half of respondents (57.1%) in the survey conducted for the Greek television “Action 24” believe that the possible solution to the name dispute will be closer to the Macedonian positions, and only 26.9% closer to the Greek “red lines”.

To the question: “The solution that will be chosen for the name of Skopje, you think will be closer to what Greece seeks or what Skopje wants?”, 6 out of 10 respondents answered that it would be in favor of Macedonia.

57.1% of respondents answered that they would be closer to what Skopje wanted, 26.9% closer to what Athens was looking for, while 16% said that they did not know or avoided answering.

In the survey of public opinion, a specific analysis was made according to the political orientation, age, gender, place of residence, level of education, etc.
Of those 57.1% who answered that the solution would be closer to the Macedonian demands, the majority, 74.5%, voted for the opposition New Democracy in the last parliamentary elections in 2015 and 39.7% for SYRIZA. Almost 7 out of 10 respondents who believe that the solution will be in favor of Macedonia, are self-determined as right-wingers or radical right-wingers. Regarding gender, the difference between men and women is only 2.7%, while 64.1% have higher education.
