SPO chief Janeva says that nobody can sack her

“Nobody can sack me. I’m protected by the law, whereas VMRO-DPMNE’s demands are political and I do not want to comment them.” This was declared by the head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in North Macedonia, Katica Janeva, as there are rumours that she and her team are going to be sacked.

Janeva said that once her mandate expires in September, she will run for another term in office, after the bill on Special Prosecutor’s Office is adopted.

Her removal has been demanded by VMRO-DPMNE during talks taking place with the government  regarding the law that will regulate this institution. The Special Prosecutor’s Office was established in 2015 to investigate the wiretapping scandal.
