The Ministry of Interior cannot know where the country’s citizens are at all times unless there is an order by a prosecutor or court, said Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski on Sunday.

Minister Spasovski was asked by the media whether the MoI knows the location of Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva.

“If the MoI is supposed to know the whereabouts of every person at a given time, then we are not living in a democratic country. The MoI is proceeding solely upon an order issued by a prosecutor or court,” said Spasovski.

Special Prosecutor Janeva is on sick leave after she lodged her resignation, which she said would be activated once an agreement on the Law on the Public Prosecutors Office is reached. Janeva’s cell phone has been seized by the public prosecutor’s office for organized crime and corruption as part of the investigation in “Racket” case.
