Secretariat for the implementation of Ohrid Agreement closed down

Yesterday, parliament in North Macedonia voted in favour of closing down the Secretariat for the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, a government department which was set up to implement the peace agreement that ended the 2001 conflict in the country.

The decision to close down this department provoked reactions amongst former fighters of the National Liberation Army, who did not agree with it. Amongst them was Hazbi Lika, who has been occupying the post of deputy Prime Minister for the Ohrid Agreement.

This secretariat has now been replaced by the Ministry for Political System and Relations between Communities.
