PM Zaev: There is progress in the name talks

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is an optimist in regard to Skopje-Athens name talks after the recent meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Macedonia and Greece, who ‘sincerely voiced their positions’.

‘They know what is possible and not possible. So we can say that progress has been made. I hope that the FMs will meet again, most probably in Ohrid on 11-12 April. I don’t know if the meeting is confirmed, if not it will be rescheduled,’ Zaev told reporters on Thursday during his visit to Stip.

The process for settling the name dispute resumes, and if both sides make efforts to take care for each other their future agreement on the name issue will be embraced by the institutions and citizens of the two countries, Zaev said.

‘This is the only way to resolve the problem. I believe in finding a solution that will preserve the dignity and identity of the two countries,’ the Prime Minister said.
