Head Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva, who is under detention as a suspect in the “Racket” case, has authorized all SPO cases to be handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Special Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.

“The SPO received on Tuesday from the Skopje-based Criminal Court an authorization that Katica Janeva had sent via the Skopje Prison. Thereby, Janeva authorizes SPO’s prosecutors to hand over all its cases to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, including criminal cases under trial, pre-trial and investigation,” the press release reads.

Having in mind the law on SPO and the provisions on the autonomy of the Prosecutor’s Office, a missive about the authorization will be sent on Wednesday to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, after which a decision on further action will be reached, the SPO said.

SPO’s term is until September 15. The new public prosecution law which is underway in Parliament should regulate the future status of SPO, but differences over the bill still remain between the government and the opposition.
