Greek media: Five name proposals on negotiating table

After Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias revealed that the text containing Greek proposals and agenda for future cooperation has been sent to Skopje, Greek media outlets including Kathimerini and Ta Nea reported five names on the table for talks. It is about the same ideas proposed by UN mediator Matthew Nimetz, and they are:

Republic of Northern Macedonia,

Republic of New Macedonia,

Republic of Upper Macedonia,

Republic of Vardar Macedonia and

Republic of Macedonia (Skopje)

“No one can anticipate developments as the situation between the two sides can be characterized as calmed, but provocative statements, especially by (Nikola) Dimitrov, do not create compromise conditions. Positions related to the history and culture that the two sides must share and (Zoran) Zaev’s insisting that he does not have to change the Skopje constitution, predict negative outcome for the negotiations,” Ta Nea reported.

Ta Nea analyses the internal political situation in both countries commenting that it is not certain that possible agreement could be easily accepted, due to the position of the government coalition partner Independent Greeks and the position of the Greeks.

Today’s meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his coalition partner Panos Kammenos is scheduled to be held in Prime Minister’s palace at 5pm whereat they could also discuss about the namedispute.
