First official meeting between VMRO-DPMNE and DUI leaders

The current political and economic situation in Macedonia, the reforms, the name dispute and the relations between the government and the opposition were some of the topics at today’s first official meeting of the leader of DUI Ali Ahmeti with the new president of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski.

Mickoski yesterday said he expected the meeting to be successful.

– It will be our first official meeting since I am the president of VMRO-DPMNE, although we already had several meetings, first in the Club of Representatives, and one semi-official meeting along with representatives of the international community. We agreed to see each other and here, that meeting will be held on Saturday. We will try to discuss the real problems, the current political and economic situation in the country, said Mickovski before today’s meeting.

After their meeting, Ali Ahmeti stressed that this was not a meeting to agree on the Law on the Use of Languages.

– I congratulated Mickovski’s election and exchanged opinions in a constructive manner, said Ahmeti, adding that the communication should continue in the future for the country’s progress.

Ahmeti said that the country’s stability and progress in implementing the reforms is in the interest of both parties.
