Dimitrov: Tomorrow is a ‘historic’ day for Macedonia

Tomorrow is a historic day for Macedonia, a day that paves us the way toward the future, said Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

Tomorrow is, in fact, one major step to close the issue, which is as old as the independence of Macedonia, that is from 1991,” Dimitrov said speaking to reporters at the opening of the One Love Tour 2018, where his was joined by his Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva.

We have forces fighting to go ahead, towards the future, we have forces fighting to push us backwards, towards the past. We cannot change the past, but we can change the future, the FM stated.

“This has been our final open issue and in a way we are closing a stage of uncertainty, of challenges. It would be immensely important this act to open the doors of both the EU and NATO, because – in addition to fostering friendship with Greece – one of the many motives of Macedonia is to see the doors being opened in order to finally get out of this waiting room where we have been stuck for too many years,” noted FM Dimitrov.
