Crucial Kotzias – Dimitrov meeting in Sofia – new meeting to be held in Skopje


According to IBNA’s exclusive information, the meeting of foreign ministers of Greece and Macedonia, Nikos Kotzias and Nikola Dimitrov respectively, is considered to be of key importance for the next day of the attempt  resolve the dispute over the nomenclature. The meeting, which will be held on the sidelines of the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers (Gymnich) in the imposing building of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the center of Sofia on 15-16 February 2018, will be crucial for the continuation of the talks.

IBNA’s information indicates that the Greek foreign minister, in Sofia, will hand over to his counterpart the draft Agreement for the resolution of the name dispute. A new meeting between Kotzias and Dimitrov is to be held in Skopje in two weeks time, which will coincide with the official commencement of the Athens-Skopje air connection.

The meeting in Skopje, according to IBNA’s sources, will give a good indication whether there will be a continuation of the consultations, and if yes, then a roadmap of the future moves of the two sides will be drawn, as in the time between the two meetings the government in Skopje will have plenty of time to examine the Greek proposal”.
