Citizens of North Macedonia vote for the country’s fift President

The 6th presidential elections take place Sunday in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The three candidates running for president include Stevo Pendarovski, who is the joint candidate of the ruling SDSM and DUI, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, who is the candidate chosen by the right-wing opposition VMRO DPMNE party and Blerim Reka, who is supported by the Alliance for Albanians and the BESA movement.

The presidential elections are administered in 3,480 polling stations in 80 municipalities, the City of Skopje and in 32 diplomatic and consular offices abroad. 1,808,131 voters are eligible to vote. Polling stations open at 7am and close at 7pm.

According to the State Election Commission (SEC) 3,150 domestic and 419 foreign observers will monitor presidential elections. SEC also accredited 289 translators.

The ill and the disabled persons, the internally displaced persons, and persons serving a prison sentence voted on Saturday. Second round of presidential elections will be held on May 5.

This will be the sixth presidential vote in the country since its independence in 1991.
