Anti-Corruption Commission under investigation

The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje has created a case by an apprised of the members of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption for spending budgetary funds.
– After the announcements in the media, the prosecution undertakes actions for determining the facts in the case, for collecting data and the necessary documentation from the Public Revenue Office and other relevant institutions, announced the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As the media reported, the Public Revenue Office audit found irregularities in the work of the Anti corruption Commission, where its members unintentionally spent budget funds. The audit report concluded that members of the Commission were paid travel expenses for attendance at meetings, and the payment was made on the basis of unreliable travel orders. Then, some of them did not come to work at all, but only on sessions, and were submitted for three road orders for the same day.
The government responded to the case, from which they demand responsibility from the members of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
– The Government of the Republic of Macedonia follows the principle of zero tolerance for corruption. In the past seven months, we have shown that there is no tolerance for the appointed officials who have shown irresponsible spending of the citizens’ money, and all those who have been identified have taken responsibility. Simultaneously, the Government constantly points out that the responsible spending of the budget money should be respected by all public officials, as was the case with the State Election Commission. We expect that the members of the Commission of Anti corruption will follow the principle of zero tolerance for corruption and will show responsibility in the light of recent developments and taking into account that this is the essence of their work, say the Government of Macedonia.
